Ettore Placidi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ettore Placidi got free with Rolando Noboa in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dave Clemente showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliseo Mina in the 17th minute of the match. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Armando Natalucci tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Armando Natalucci managed to get in a good position for a shot. Glasgow Rangers FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Armando Natalucci was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eliseo Mina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Glasgow Rangers FC's Dave Clemente played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luz Tejedor in the 42nd minute of play. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Anthony Alvarado hit a great ball. Ettore Placidi's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Rolando Noboa firmly grabbed it by the left post. Peru's Julian Murillo got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Felice Perna made a throw-in in the 50th minute of the game. Dave Clemente made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 55th minute of play. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armando Natalucci, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute.
