Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dimitris Papaggelatos in the 37th minute of the match. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Savas Iosifakis in the 39th minute. 40 minutes into the game, Zinon Batistas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Panthiseiakos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Zinon Batistas kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 41st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Panthiseiakos. In the 46th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Without hesitation aimed to the right of Kleanthis Koumentakis, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Wlodzimierz Smolarek's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 61st match minute, Panthiseiakos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wlodzimierz Smolarek to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Agustín Saelices took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Kleanthis Koumentakis to make any attempt to save it. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julius Delcroix couldn't finish the play. Agustín Saelices who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 74thth minute tested the skills of Kleanthis Koumentakis when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Kleanthis Koumentakis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 78th minute of play. Kleanthis Koumentakis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 79th minute. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team.
