The supporters of PHOENIX SC booed when USA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Mcdonald didn't get a good kick on the ball. 9 minutes into the match, PHOENIX SC's goal looked a bit too open when Cassius Byrne came free, but Ray Clemence reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ray Clemence made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cassius Byrne in the 10th minute of play. Monty Rogers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marco Day made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lilcho Ilchov in the 13th minute. In the 17th minute, Monty Rogers made a precise shot to the right of Ray Clemence. PHOENIX SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. In the 24th minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ray Clemence saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marco Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samai Asmawan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marco Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samai Asmawan in the 27th minute of the match. Ray Clemence took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st minute of the match USA got a corner. PHOENIX SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cassius Byrne ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Diego Bradley almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but PHOENIX SC's Ray Clemence did a great save. When USA's Monty Rogers in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye PHOENIX SC's goalie prevented a goal. Marco Day made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Lilcho Ilchov sent off a good shot on target. Lilcho Ilchov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 47th minute, Dé 孙权 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX SC's Dé 孙权 got a free kick in the 49th minute. In the 50th minute Cassius Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ray Clemence saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half USA were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Cassius Byrne made the kick off in the second half. PHOENIX SC's Ray Clemence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Mcdonald in the 53rd minute of play. Cassius Byrne could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Ray Clemence made a huge save. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX SC's Wilson Seco got a free kick in the 61st minute. Ray Clemence showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cassius Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. USA's Marco Day played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frederico Hendrickx in the 66th minute of play. Ray Clemence made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Cassius Byrne sent off a good shot on target. In the 72nd minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ray Clemence saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 86th match minute, PHOENIX SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dadá D Agostino to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sam Campbell got free with Ray Clemence in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. USA's Khalid Parry got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. PHOENIX SC's Ray Clemence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Khalid Parry in the 91st minute of play. When the match was over USA could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than PHOENIX SC throughout the match.
