Valentin Leguizamón came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento. But to his dismay, Isidoro Sarmiento quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Isidoro Sarmiento got free with Valentin Leguizamón in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 87th minute Clemente Errando shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristobal Reeves in the 89th minute of play. In the 91st minute, Alex Cambeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sin control were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
