Halvard Nordtømme kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. In the 46th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it.

With a little luck, Stellenbosch's Pedro Pelayo got control of the ball when Agustín Saelices tried to sneak it across the goal line. Flóki Cabezudo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flóki Cabezudo in the 77th minute of play. Pedro Pelayo made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Flóki Cabezudo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
