Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Deilmison van Basten in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rodriguinho Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Denílson Magalhães got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Deilmison van Basten succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 21st playminute. In the 28th minute, Deilmison van Basten ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Heitor Maldini was substituted for Betão Marquez. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of play forced ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rodriguinho Sousa came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After 39 minutes of play, ATHLETICO PRaiano's Deilmison van Basten made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! 42 minutes into the match, Deilmison van Basten had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Deilmison van Basten was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Rodriguinho Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Rodriguinho Sousa made a huge save. 59 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 64th minute, Deilmison van Basten ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1. 68 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's Deilmison van Basten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Deilmison van Basten took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-1. The supporters of Ecuador booed when ATHLETICO PRaiano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erubiel Valery didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Deilmison van Basten in the 89th minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Deilmison van Basten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 92nd minute ATHLETICO PRaiano were awarded a corner. Unax Mudarra went to the cornerflag to take it. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because ATHLETICO PRaiano had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
