Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dobromir Brudnicki went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Cöpacabana FC's Vito Leite got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Vito Leite took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Julio Vera to make any attempt to save it. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Vito Leite tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 41 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. Thanks to some nice moves Vito Leite could shoot a difficult shot in the 42nd minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. Julio Vera didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 46th minute, which inside left pole to 3-0.

After taking down the ball on Cöpacabana FC's corner Stig-Åke Benet fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. After a rather tough play, Cöpacabana FC's Harald Boman got a free kick in the 70th minute. In the 81st match minute, Cöpacabana FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tales Loureiro to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stig-Åke Benet in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Cöpacabana FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
