Panama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Flamengo FSCMZ the free kick. After a rather tough play, Panama's Aaron Barrios got a free kick in the 18th minute. Flamengo FSCMZ's Silas Carneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 20th minute of play. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aquiles Leonidas, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Silas Carneiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abraham Alguacil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, Flamengo FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Miralles came free, but Silas Carneiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 32 minutes of play, Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Silas Carneiro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marcos Cotilla made an important save on a dangerous shot by Chico Neto in the 36th minute. Marcos Cotilla made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Şensoy Peyam sent off a good shot on target. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Panama's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Chico Neto was slow to take the kick. During this time Flamengo FSCMZ's players had a chance to rest. Şensoy Peyam blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcos Cotilla having to make a save. After 45 played minutes Flamengo FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Best Gol. When Isidoro Sarmiento fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Panama's protests and gave Isidoro Sarmiento a yellow card for diving instead. After 46 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Isidoro Sarmiento. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The supporters of Panama booed when Flamengo FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chico Neto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Abraham Alguacil managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panama's supporters rose to their feet, but Abraham Alguacil was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silas Carneiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Flamengo FSCMZ's Best Gol got a free kick in the 77th minute. Flamengo FSCMZ's Eliseu Marquez quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Matthew Garrido, made in the 82nd minute of the game. Alex Cambeiro hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aquiles Leonidas in the 85th minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, Flamengo FSCMZ's goalkeeper Silas Carneiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Isidoro Sarmiento.
