After having played for 26 minutes, Eliseo Mina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Mina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Barcelona de América's Viorel Oniga got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 33rd match minute, Barcelona de América was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Calisto Cean to maneuver through the defense. Tenorio Reiriz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 38th minute of the match. In the 39th minute, Luz Tejedor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Calisto Cean made in the 44th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Thomas Ravousis. After the first half Peru were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Caetano Levandowsky made a kick off. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Levandowsky, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. 58 minutes into the game, Calisto Cean threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Alonso Berganza quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tenorio Reiriz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. Peru's Alonso Berganza managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Calisto Cean in the 65 minute of the game. 68 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Caetano Levandowsky came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Levandowsky in the 73rd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 78 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Rafael Gallo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tenorio Reiriz having to interfere. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Levandowsky, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Tenorio Reiriz made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Milagros Fraga sent off a good shot on target. 96 minutes had been played when some careless play by Barcelona de América's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Eliseo Mina was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. The Barcelona de América fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Peru were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
