Kiko De la Cuadra went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 10th minute of the match Chile got a corner. Salmuera CP's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mariano Lacasa ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mariano Lacasa made a great header on Chile's corner, it was just that Salmuera CP's Ruperto Maria managed to reach the ball for a save. Hồ Kyhn hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute Costin Duca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute Costin Duca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, Salmuera CP's Thiago Pliego threw himself towards the right post 36 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Costin Duca, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 39 minutes into the game, Chile's Mariano Lacasa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ruperto Maria made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 47th match minute, Salmuera CP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wes Higgins to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 48th minute of play forced Salmuera CP's goalkeeper Ruperto Maria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mariano Lacasa to strike the kick off in the second half. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pablo Martinez in the 57th minute of the match. With a little luck, Salmuera CP's Ruperto Maria got control of the ball when Orlando Casaus tried to sneak it across the goal line. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fan Xing Zhou in the 66th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Orlando Casaus got free with Ruperto Maria in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ruperto Maria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. In the 81st minute, Chile's Mariano Lacasa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ruperto Maria. Ruperto Maria yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ruperto Maria read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, Salmuera CP's goalkeeper Ruperto Maria had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mariano Lacasa. Mariano Lacasa might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ruperto Maria. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Salmuera CP booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Carballar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Ruperto Maria made a huge save. The Chile supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Chile would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
