The corner ended in Isaac Intxixu almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. 20 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fumo Pocock. Oshyros ll's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Egoitz in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Julio Vera had great luck who in the 23rdth minute grab hold of the ball when Cristian Egoitz from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fumo Pocock breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when Ecuador's Felix Montenegro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal.
