Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Richmond De Worteleere. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. Richmond De Worteleere made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 19th minute of play. In the 22nd minute Rodrigo Jax shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bruno Abeita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. If Rodrigo Jax had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of AC 1986 Vinalito booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. After 65 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. 66 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Bruno Abeita came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruno Abeita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 72nd minute Eliseo Frances shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Abeita in the 75th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Raimundo Guerau stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Raimundo Guerau tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Abeita in the 95th minute of the match. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
