Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Su Xing Jie in the 5th minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yakut Vecihi, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. In the 9th minute, Zhou Zhen Zhen reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Dante Lacasa. The goal made the score 1-0. 15 minutes into the match, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lei Wei Lin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lei Wei Lin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dante Lacasa should have stopped the shot. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. When Alberto Tafalla fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mexico's protests and gave Alberto Tafalla a yellow card for diving instead. Alberto Tafalla hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. 52 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Zhou Zhen Zhen came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Abbotsford FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Zorita came free, but Lei Wei Lin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Pierre Haeberle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Abbotsford FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Pierre Haeberle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 94th minute Zhou Zhen Zhen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Yakut Vecihi notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of Mexico's Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Abbotsford FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mexico had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
