Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcos Ekhi, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Remigio Torres kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Miguel Godoy tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 9th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Sedeni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after 1989 Blxsk's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Enrique Sedeni was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. 24 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Enrique Sedeni. 1989 Blxsk's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Severino Furman in the 28th minute. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by 1989 Blxsk's Severino Furman. But to his dismay, Severino Furman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 1989 Blxsk's Enrique Sedeni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play. Enrique Sedeni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when 1989 Blxsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvaro Tiniebra didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 43 minutes, Desiderio Ostargi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 1989 Blxsk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Desiderio Ostargi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Desiderio Ostargi during the 50th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to 1989 Blxsk getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Desiderio Ostargi hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Enrique Sedeni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 59th minute, Remigio Torres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 63rd minute of the match Melchor Dorio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Enrique Sedeni made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Severino Furman in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. In the 72nd minute Guo Xi Chao shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severino Furman in the 82nd minute of play. 1989 Blxsk made a substitution. Luke De Kelper replaced Marcos Ekhi. 1989 Blxsk's Celestino Millano was substituted for Severino Furman. The corner led to 1989 Blxsk's Luke De Kelper getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 93rd minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
