Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Miguel Van Mechelen kicked off to start the match. Eliseo Noboa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 8 played minutes YR Mechelen got a freekick which was hit by Jamie Van Mechelen. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Van Mechelen in the 18th minute of play. Efrain Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Van Mechelen in the 21st minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Van Mechelen, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Miguel Van Mechelen had several of the Costa Rica's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 32 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Benito Sanz as he didn't even see the shot coming. A collision led to YR Mechelen getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Joop Leemans hit a great ball. 46 minutes into the game, Miguel Van Mechelen recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Sanz. Miguel Van Mechelen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Miguel Van Mechelen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Efrain Moruga hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Miguel Van Mechelen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Van Mechelen in the 63rd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andries Mangelschot during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Andries Mangelschot kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, YR Mechelen's Andries Mangelschot got a free kick in the 74th minute. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by YR Mechelen's Miguel Van Mechelen. But to his dismay, Miguel Van Mechelen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 81 minutes into the match, Andries Mangelschot notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 88 minutes into the match, YR Mechelen's Miguel Van Mechelen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benito Sanz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of YR Mechelen booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute, Jamie Van Mechelen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. YR Mechelen had played much better football throughout.
