Harry Higuita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 9th minute of play. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 10th minute after Aro FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Harry Higuita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Nate Drakenborg tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Felix Montenegro made a precise shot to the right of Harry Higuita. Aro FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Harry Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 38th minute of the match. A very good chance. 42 minutes into the game, Camilo Gisbert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Aro FC the free kick. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.
The wind increased when Nate Drakenborg made the kick off in the second half. Sune Svartengren struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aro FC. In the 54th minute of the match Aro FC got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Errikos Tsagaris ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Errikos Tsagaris got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Agustín Saelices charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Agustín Saelices the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 55 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. After 56th play minutes Nate Drakenborg shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Julio Vera and just under the crossbar into goal. Aro FC's Nate Drakenborg got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Aro FC's Isac Muntian got a free kick in the 65th minute. Harry Higuita made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Aro FC getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Isac Muntian hit a great ball. In the 78th match minute, Aro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven-Arne Berglund to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nate Drakenborg in the 81st minute of the match. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Harry Higuita firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nate Drakenborg in the 86th minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nate Drakenborg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 91 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Nate Drakenborg came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
