Ruperto Burni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Ruperto Burni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 16 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bernardo Berto. Ruperto Burni was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 26 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ruperto Burni was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fahl De Bruyne got free with Julio Vera in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 40th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruperto Burni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Bernardo Berto made the kick off in the second half. Ruperto Burni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rosales United's Cleto Santxol was substituted for Placido Firmin. After 76 minutes of play, Rosales United's Bernardo Berto made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernardo Berto in the 81st minute of the match. In the 88th minute Bernardo Berto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Berto in the 90th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, Rosales United could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
