The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Micky Capusotto in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5thth minute of the game Micky Capusotto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 8th minute of play forced Deportivo Pomelo Nenene's goalkeeper Hilario Ramos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 10thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Deportivo Pomelo Nenene's Hilario Ramos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaspar Cedro, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A throw-in in the 30th minute of the game was made by Valentin Aureo with Godfredo Montel as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. The audience thought a goal was coming when Micky Capusotto got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 32 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Micky Capusotto. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Hilario Ramos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. In the 40th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hilario Ramos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. Godfredo Montel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Godfredo Montel showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 45 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, one of Venezuela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Venezuela. If Gaspar Cedro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. In the 75th minute, Venezuela's Patricio Costa dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hilario Ramos having to interfere. Damian Damario kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Pomelo Nenene's Valentin Aureo got a free kick in the 90th minute. In the 95th minute, Cleto Indalecio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Many of Venezuela's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Venezuela may have spent more time on the ball, but Deportivo Pomelo Nenene were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
