Övertorneå RK's Vilgot Palmquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Facundo Cadaval in the 3rd minute of play. The supporters of Mexico booed when Övertorneå RK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vilgot Håkansson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 9th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vilgot Palmquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Övertorneå RK's Vilgot Palmquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 11th minute of play. In the 11th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luca Rouco to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Saverio Matthew tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gökcan Hürmetli struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Dante Lacasa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Övertorneå RK. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Facundo Cadaval got a free kick in the 25th minute. Kristian Tomasson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. In the 41st match minute, Övertorneå RK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pelle Sillén to maneuver through the defense. In the 43rd minute, Macos Graciani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Vilgot Palmquist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

55 minutes into the game, Saverio Matthew was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Övertorneå RK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. Saverio Matthew kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Lautaro Mancebo could shoot a difficult shot in the 57th minute, which Vilgot Palmquist however easily saved by the left post. In the 61st match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Facundo Cadaval to maneuver through the defense. After 61 played minutes, Övertorneå RK's Harry Almqvist shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dante Lacasa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Övertorneå RK reached it. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Vilgot Palmquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 67th minute of play. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Övertorneå RK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Vilgot Palmquist quite easily take care of the ball. In the 70th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vilgot Palmquist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kristian Tomasson took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Övertorneå RK's Kristian Tomasson. But to his dismay, Kristian Tomasson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kristian Tomasson during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Övertorneå RK's Kristian Tomasson got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harry Almqvist in the 86th minute of play. Vilgot Palmquist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 92nd minute. Mexico's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
