The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by 孟轩青. Liga de Quito were awarded a corner in the 8th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Machado Pedrero took the corner. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, 孟轩青 kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Jonathan Ferrant was a little too slow when Iachetti Bernabeytia got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 15th minute. The score was now 3-0. In the 20th minute, Tomas Illescas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Tomas Illescas's late challenge caught a Liga de Quito's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that 孟轩青 was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-1. In the 61st minute, 孟轩青 got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rodríguez Tome took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rodríguez Tome stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rodríguez Tome. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iachetti Bernabeytia in the 77th minute of the match. Liga de Quito's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Machado Pedrero in the 90th minute.
