The audience thought a goal was coming when 孟轩青 got free with Julio Vera in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 27 minutes into the match, Liga de Quito's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Rodríguez Tome reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-3 to the left of a surprised Rodríguez Tome 72 minutes into the match. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 77th minute, but Rodríguez Tome got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Liga de Quito hanging dry this time. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Rodríguez Tome made a huge save. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Liga de Quito's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner.
