A sloppy throw-in by Witold Kosakowski in the 22nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Efraim Gilabert. In the 25thth minute of the game Julian Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Kropotkins pojkar's Per-Arne Vidman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A throw-in in the 26th minute of the game was made by Witold Kosakowski with Tahsin Elçioğlu as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 27 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Albano Boni. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tahsin Elçioğlu in the 29th minute of play. Per-Arne Vidman didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Julian Murillo went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 43 minutes into the match, Kropotkins pojkar's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Per-Arne Vidman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Julian Murillo to strike the kick off in the second half. Milagros Fraga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Per-Arne Vidman having to interfere. Julian Murillo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 60thth minute, Per-Arne Vidman skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo-Hernán Vallejo in the 72nd minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Gustavo-Hernán Vallejo came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Per-Arne Vidman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Albano Boni sped through Peru's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Per-Arne Vidman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rafael Gallo's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. Peru's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
