After some careless play in the Vormsi Vald defense, Axel Tasis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kaur Nestra. The Vormsi Vald fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kaur Nestra should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Axel Tasis put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Kaur Nestra. 19 minutes into the game, Vormsi Vald's Hardi Laanemets nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Hardi Laanemets sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great ball. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Vormsi Vald was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arne Honga didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Vormsi Vald's Ain Raska got a free kick in the 27th minute. After 29 played minutes Vormsi Vald got a freekick which was hit by Ergo Ruul. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 30th minute of play forced Vormsi Vald's goalkeeper Kaur Nestra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 33 minutes of play, Vormsi Vald's Kaarel Kaarlimäe made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vormsi Vald's Kaur Nestra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Axel Tasis in the 40th minute of play. Lautaro Puig might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kaur Nestra. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lautaro Puig ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 50th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexander Carballo to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Tasis to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sten Joamets during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lautaro Puig's late challenge caught a Vormsi Vald's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lautaro Puig helped the player get up and apologised. After 77 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Lautaro Puig. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hardi Laanemets in the 97th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hardi Laanemets in the 99th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ain Raska recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 100th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle went the supporters of Costa Rica were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Vormsi Vald side.
