He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Venezuela reached it. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Renato Vargas having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lucílio Figueiras in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. In the 16thth minute of the game Lucílio Figueiras who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lucílio Figueiras. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucílio Figueiras in the 20th minute of play. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Eloy Hats kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Lucílio Figueiras charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lucílio Figueiras the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lucílio Figueiras hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. 28 minutes into the game, Ahmet Koralp Tükel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting Clube de Gaya's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. Venezuela made a substitution. Roberto Ocampo replaced Joshua Secada. In the 30th match minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ahmet Koralp Tükel to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lucílio Figueiras in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 34th minute of the match Sporting Clube de Gaya got a corner. Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Fredy Montero ran over to the corner to take the kick. 36 minutes into the match, Fredy Montero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fredy Montero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After having played for 57 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Virgílio Portugal got a throw-in 66 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Armando Mendes. After 67 played minutes Sporting Clube de Gaya got a freekick which was hit by Ahmet Koralp Tükel. With a little luck, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucílio Figueiras in the 75th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Armando Mendes got a free kick in the 76th minute. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Ahmet Koralp Tükel got his second yellow card of the match in the 77th minute. The referee ordered Ahmet Koralp Tükel off the ground. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucílio Figueiras in the 87th minute of play. Camilo Gaos charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Camilo Gaos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Camilo Gaos kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. In the 94th minute of the match Fredy Montero sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant skillfully saved the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sporting Clube de Gaya fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
