If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gigel Tilea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the game, Joel Gaona cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Gigel Tilea was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Mexico fans' excitement grew in the 24th match minute when Mexico's Joel Gaona looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Gigel Tilea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 30th minute of play. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgil Şimonca in the 31st minute of play. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Luca Zorita hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Joel Gaona's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gigel Tilea was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. 44 minutes into the game, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gigel Tilea made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sergiu Coșeriu to make the kick off. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgil Şimonca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Mexico's Gigel Tilea threw himself towards the right post 65 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Joel Gaona, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 69 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goalkeeper Gigel Tilea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. In the 70th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Academia Rio's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Thanks to some nice moves Lautaro Mancebo could shoot a difficult shot in the 74th minute, which Gigel Tilea however easily saved by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Academia Rio's zone, Joel Gaona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gigel Tilea came out of the goal and Joel Gaona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 82 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Zorita came free, but Gigel Tilea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joel Gaona kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Coșeriu in the 91st minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
