With a left leg Marian Văduvescu saved FC Steaua Pildesti from getting behind. 8 minutes into the match, Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's goal looked a bit too open when Zygmunt Dunajski came free, but Igor Kelemen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Karl-Michael Brask struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Marian Văduvescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Batalionul U23 Dorobanti. Igor Kelemen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zygmunt Dunajski in the 13th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Batalionul U23 Dorobanti defense, Zygmunt Dunajski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Igor Kelemen. The Batalionul U23 Dorobanti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Igor Kelemen should have stopped the shot. Marian Văduvescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl-Michael Brask, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Igor Kelemen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolae Barbu in the 17th minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC Steaua Pildesti's Nicolae Barbu got a free kick in the 19th minute. With a little luck, FC Steaua Pildesti's Marian Văduvescu got control of the ball when Karl-Michael Brask tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Zygmunt Dunajski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 27 minutes into the match, Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's goal looked a bit too open when Constantin Deșliu came free, but Igor Kelemen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Igor Kelemen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolae Barbu in the 27th minute of play. Marian Văduvescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl-Michael Brask in the 28th minute of the match. In the 30th minute, Zygmunt Dunajski left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Steaua Pildesti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's Ernie Ball was substituted for Karl-Michael Brask. In the 38th minute, Ernie Ball got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Batalionul U23 Dorobanti players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC Steaua Pildesti were winning 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Constantin Deșliu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Zygmunt Dunajski fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zygmunt Dunajski in the 54th minute of play forced Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's goalkeeper Igor Kelemen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute of the match FC Steaua Pildesti got a corner. Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Terry Doyle ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 56 played minutes FC Steaua Pildesti got a freekick which was hit by Zygmunt Dunajski. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 67 minutes into the match, FC Steaua Pildesti's goal looked a bit too open when Ernie Ball came free, but Marian Văduvescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Steaua Pildesti's Marian Văduvescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernie Ball in the 69th minute of play. In the 72nd minute of the match Batalionul U23 Dorobanti got a corner. In the 92nd minute Lucian Stere shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Igor Kelemen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nistor Costandache charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nistor Costandache the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 94 played minutes FC Steaua Pildesti got a freekick which was hit by Nistor Costandache. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernie Ball in the 95th minute of play forced FC Steaua Pildesti's goalkeeper Marian Văduvescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
