The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Guilherme Melo got free with Julio Vera in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Luiz Guilherme Melo put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. Maximino Acevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 28th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Fazendinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gavino Guter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fazendinha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Guilherme Melo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Arturo Bondi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. 80 minutes into the match, Fazendinha's goalkeeper Maximino Acevedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. Antonio Arias charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antonio Arias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 88 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Cristóvão de Barros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Cristóvão de Barros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fazendinha were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Ecuador for a fine match.
