The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Jérémy Doku tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jérémy Doku got free with Julio Vera in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jérémy Doku could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. 16 minutes into the match, Ulan Bator Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Ball Packert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. The Ulan Bator Football Club fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when Ulan Bator Football Club's Jérémy Doku looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ball Packert having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 37th minute by Kieth Hacke got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot.
