Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato lacerda in the 83rd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 85 minutes into the match, Paris Saint-Germain's Valeriu Enache sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
