Mario Barrionuevo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Mata Tangas de Victoria's zone, Jaime Pardo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mario Barrionuevo came out of the goal and Jaime Pardo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 18th minute of play forced Mata Tangas de Victoria's goalkeeper Mario Barrionuevo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Mata Tangas de Victoria's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Mario Barrionuevo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 24 minutes, Hector Covarrubias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hector Covarrubias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jacobo Nores made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Pascual Stanislao sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Covarrubias in the 35th minute of play forced Mata Tangas de Victoria's goalkeeper Mario Barrionuevo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Conrado Illan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd minute Hector Covarrubias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mario Barrionuevo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alan Campos hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Conrado Illan made the kick off in the second half. When Remigiusz Sroka fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mata Tangas de Victoria's protests and gave Remigiusz Sroka a yellow card for diving instead. Remigiusz Sroka hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After 52 played minutes, Paraguay's Primitivo Escribano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mario Barrionuevo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Paraguay reached it. Remigiusz Sroka blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jacobo Nores having to make a save. 56 minutes into the match, Jaime Pardo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mario Barrionuevo. Mata Tangas de Victoria's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jaime Pardo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jaime Pardo in the 64thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mario Barrionuevo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pascual Stanislao in the 68th minute of play. After some careless play in the Mata Tangas de Victoria defense, Jaime Pardo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mario Barrionuevo. The Mata Tangas de Victoria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mario Barrionuevo should have stopped the shot. Eugenio Mateus charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eugenio Mateus the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Mata Tangas de Victoria getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Eugenio Mateus hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime Pardo got free with Mario Barrionuevo in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Primitivo Escribano was extremely unlucky when he, in the 81st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Remigiusz Sroka was shown his second yellow card after 84 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paraguay's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
