Paranhos Ariranha FC's Gaspar Gilesindo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of play. Gaspar Gilesindo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 19th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Paranhos Ariranha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pieter-Maarten Specht didn't get a good kick on the ball. Primitivo Andino hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 30thth minute of the game Agustín Saelices who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Paranhos Ariranha FC's Gaspar Gilesindo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gaspar Gilesindo. Gaspar Gilesindo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. A collision led to Paranhos Ariranha FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Cristóvão Mattos hit a great ball. Gaspar Gilesindo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 41st minute of play. In the 44th minute Cristóvão Mattos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, Paranhos Ariranha FC's Cristóvão Mattos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Paranhos Ariranha FC's Honorato Afonso was substituted for Guillermo Baleren. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cristóvão Mattos was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristóvão Mattos's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. In the 61st minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 65th minute of play forced Paranhos Ariranha FC's goalkeeper Gaspar Gilesindo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gaspar Gilesindo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 74th minute. 76 minutes into the match, Paranhos Ariranha FC's Cristóvão Mattos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 77 minutes, Gaspar Gilesindo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristóvão Mattos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 80 minutes into the match, Cristóvão Mattos notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Paranhos Ariranha FC's Gaspar Gilesindo got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 85 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. 86 minutes into the game, Cristóvão Mattos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 90th minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-4. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Emanuele Hottiger during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 96th minute, Emanuele Hottiger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
