The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 17th minute Kraig Fred shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rüştü Rencber saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Estudiantes de América's Kert Roolaid managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Leonardo Ramljak in the 22 minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Kraig Fred put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Rüştü Rencber. Antoni Tipinski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Estudiantes de América's Marcos Ranolfo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antoni Tipinski in the 31st minute of play. Marcos Ranolfo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Milen Kúlvachev in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de América's Kraig Fred sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rüştü Rencber narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Estudiantes de América's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Maximo Dei in the 48th minute. Estudiantes de América's Fran Tudor was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Rüştü Rencber in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Kraig Fred might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rüştü Rencber. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kraig Fred ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kraig Fred in the 54th minute of play forced Niebiański&Team's goalkeeper Rüştü Rencber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rüştü Rencber took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Simeone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58th minute Antoni Tipinski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Ranolfo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60th minute, Estudiantes de América's Kraig Fred ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rüştü Rencber. Rüştü Rencber yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. Estudiantes de América's Concetto Trasatti was substituted for Kraig Fred. Estudiantes de América made a substitution. Concetto Trasatti's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Rüştü Rencber firmly grabbed it by the left post. Korneliusz Miodek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rüştü Rencber having to interfere. In the 95th minute, Korneliusz Miodek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
