Adolfo Sotil came free with the goalkeeper in the 9th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Vegim Dimitrovski kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 17th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilian Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emilian Martinez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Emilian Martinez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Racing Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Emilian Martinez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute of the match. Emilian Martinez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 29th minute of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Emilian Martinez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emilian Martinez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Racing Club's defense didn't have a chance, in the 65th minute, when Daniel Zorita scored to the left of an out of position Emilian Martinez, making the score, 0-1. The supporters of Racing Club booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 86 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Cristobal Sayveon was slow to take the kick. During this time Racing Club's players had a chance to rest. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 罗岚洋 in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. In the 89th minute, Felix Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adolfo Sotil in the 93rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 93 minutes into the game, Racing Club's Adolfo Sotil nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
