The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dave De Bartolo in the 15th minute of play. Dave De Bartolo hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dave De Bartolo in the 23rd minute of play. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fortunato Montini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stefan Cârstea kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Fortunato Montini made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dennis Man in the 69th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita in the 72ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Fortunato Montini, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 75th minute, Agustín Saelices reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Fortunato Montini. The goal made the score 0-1. After 90 minutes, Camilo Gisbert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the GG Team FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 89th minute, one of Ecuador:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ecuador. In the 94thth minute of the game Dennis Man who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
