Sebastian Sandberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastian Sandberg having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Xv de Piracicaba's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sebastian Sandberg came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alfredo Rocchi hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ramon Menezess short, quick shot in the 41stth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Ramon Menezes in the 41stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. In the 50th minute Min Son shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Xv de Piracicaba's Meng Jie Xing was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Sebastian Sandberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ramon Menezes in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. In the 71st minute, Ramon Menezes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Min Son fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Xv de Piracicaba's protests and gave Min Son a yellow card for diving instead. After 74 played minutes Xv de Piracicaba got a freekick which was hit by Min Son. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Sebastian Sandberg in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner led Ecuador's Cristian Sancho to fire away a dangerous shot which Sebastian Sandberg despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Min Son, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. After 88 played minutes Xv de Piracicaba got a freekick which was hit by Ramon Menezes. If Ramon Menezes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
