An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play forced Clube do Remo MZ's goalkeeper Wachirapong Wattanachinda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wachirapong Wattanachinda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clube do Remo MZ's Wachirapong Wattanachinda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Clube do Remo MZ's Baal Grunberg got a free kick in the 26th minute. The audience was convinced that Tiaguinho Mandrak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. The Clube do Remo MZ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Clube do Remo MZ's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wachirapong Wattanachinda came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

After having played for 51 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Virgill Van Dijk fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clube do Remo MZ's protests and gave Virgill Van Dijk a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Clube do Remo MZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Virgill Van Dijk didn't get a good kick on the ball. Clube do Remo MZ's Wachirapong Wattanachinda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Clube do Remo MZ from getting a goal against them. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiaguinho Mandrak in the 64th minute of play. When Luis Andino came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Andino couldn't finish the play. In the 75th minute, Tiaguinho Mandrak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wachirapong Wattanachinda made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiaguinho Mandrak in the 86th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiaguinho Mandrak in the 92nd minute of play. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Clube do Remo MZ were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
