After 22 played minutes Bandelocos got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Sobis. After a defensive mix-up in Bandelocos's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nilson do Vale came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nilson do Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 27th minute of the match. The corner ended in Cristian Sancho almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Bandelocos's Nilson do Vale did a great save. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Daniel Brasil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luiz Guilherme Varela who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Bandelocos's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nilson do Vale came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luiz Guilherme Varela blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Guilherme Varela in the 41st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rafael Sobis's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Bandelocos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1.
