Co Ko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Suwon FC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Co Ko came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bai Chen Xing's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 46thth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bai Chen Xing was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, 정 해 had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 김 후 kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. In the 82nd minute Daniel Zorita managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. Bai Chen Xing took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Juan Sebastián Puig's late challenge caught a Suwon FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Sebastián Puig helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Suwon FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
