Juan Sebastián Puig made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that IRAKLIS's Iakovos Perivolakis managed to reach the ball for a save. After a defensive mix-up in IRAKLIS's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iakovos Perivolakis came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 47th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Miltiadis Liakos succeeded in the game's 53rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Sebastián Puig in the 56th minute of play forced IRAKLIS's goalkeeper Iakovos Perivolakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chinomso Zelarayan in the 65th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Chinomso Zelarayan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iakovos Perivolakis having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
