Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Daniel Zorita took the kick off in the first half of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco van Nistelrooij in the 2nd minute of play. After 5 played minutes Caricancha got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Caetano. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Amado Gamus read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. Astor Senio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. After 9 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zheng Chao Bing who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Zheng Chao Bing almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Caricancha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wang Jun Wei didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Caricancha's zone, Agustín Saelices stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amado Gamus came out of the goal and Agustín Saelices tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 17 minutes into the match, Caricancha's Astor Senio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 18 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Caricancha's Amado Gamus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of play. Amado Gamus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 29 minutes into the game, Joel Artaldo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 31st minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amado Gamus was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Amado Gamus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Astor Senio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Caricancha's Erasmo Caetano got a free kick in the 47th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marco van Nistelrooij to make the kick off. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Amado Gamus having to make a save. Marco van Nistelrooij received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joel Artaldo kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Caricancha's Amado Gamus proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Caricancha from getting a goal against them. In the 67th minute Marco van Nistelrooij shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marco van Nistelrooij fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 71 minutes into the match, Marco van Nistelrooij had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marco van Nistelrooij was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. With a little luck, Caricancha's Amado Gamus got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. 80 minutes had been played when some careless play by Caricancha's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Luis Andino got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 2-2. 81 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Caricancha's Amado Gamus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 86th minute of play. A collision led to Caricancha getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Erasmo Caetano hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Amado Gamus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
