The throw-in from Torgny Valrot in the 38th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert. Venezuela's Alex Chicote managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Torgny Valrot in the 39 minute of the game. In the 42nd match minute, Vejbystrand was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernt Nordlund to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Moisés Queiroga in the 45th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The supporters of Vejbystrand booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salvador Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harald Ennegren, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. In the 62nd minute Harald Ennegren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Harald Ennegren in the 67th managed to get into a good position. Harald Ennegren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. After 97 minutes, Algot Forsberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vejbystrand and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card.
