An unexpectedly hard shot by Luca Zorita in the 5th minute of play forced Di Röe's goalkeeper George Kristiansson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jens Åkerman made in the 8th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Mexico's Joel Gaona. In the 10thth minute of the game Sten Melberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. George Kristiansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 18th minute of play. Sten Melberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sten Melberg in the 20th minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Di Röe's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but George Kristiansson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jens Åkerman kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Joel Gaona took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for George Kristiansson. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. George Kristiansson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
