Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Rolando Amorebieta started the match with the kick off. 6 minutes into the game, Chile's Mariano Lacasa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacinto Cuadrado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rolando Amorebieta in the 9th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jacinto Cuadrado having to make a save. 19 minutes into the game, Mariano Lacasa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Jacinto Cuadrado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 22 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Cuadrado. Boca Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mariano Lacasa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. In the 33rd minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Cuadrado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute, Mariano Lacasa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jacinto Cuadrado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacinto Cuadrado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Jacinto Cuadrado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guillermo Fontirroig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Jacinto Cuadrado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The wind increased when Mariano Lacasa made the kick off in the second half. Jacinto Cuadrado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Guillermo Fontirroig in the 52nd minute. Chile were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Boca Juniors's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jacinto Cuadrado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mariano Lacasa went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-6 was the resulting score. Mariano Lacasa scored 1-8 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jacinto Cuadrado, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hitzeder Manrique in the 81st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arkadiusz Banaszak in the 83rd minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 85 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mariano Lacasa. In the 87th minute, Mariano Lacasa made a precise shot to the right of Jacinto Cuadrado. Boca Juniors's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-9.
