The player immediately received a yellow card. After 8 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ecuador! When the match had been going on for 9 minutes, RIBEIRÃO FC's Lukáš Modrić got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Julio Vera. Mariano Admon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Ongile having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Lukáš Modrić kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Julio Vera. That made the score 2-0 in the 15 minute of play. After 18 played minutes RIBEIRÃO FC got a freekick which was hit by Lukáš Modrić. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Angelo Ongile made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 22nd minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 27 in the game by Lukáš Modrić from a close distance when the talented Julio Vera managed to make a qualified save. Ecuador's players were relieved. When Nelson de Lara fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored RIBEIRÃO FC's protests and gave Nelson de Lara a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when RIBEIRÃO FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelson de Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lukáš Modrić who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Angelo Ongile tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Admon, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 36th match minute, RIBEIRÃO FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilian Seco to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 37th minute of play forced RIBEIRÃO FC's goalkeeper Angelo Ongile to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angelo Ongile saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eulalio Peio struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RIBEIRÃO FC. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lukáš Modrić to strike the kick off in the second half. Angelo Ongile was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 51 minute of play. In the 54th minute, Lukáš Modrić hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Angelo Ongile made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 56th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. RIBEIRÃO FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but RIBEIRÃO FC's Angelo Ongile did a great save. 58 minutes into the match, RIBEIRÃO FC's goalkeeper Angelo Ongile had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. 59 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Lukáš Modrić came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Admon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by João Augusto Pontes during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angelo Ongile prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 69 minutes, Cristian Sancho made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. RIBEIRÃO FC's Angelo Ongile tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. RIBEIRÃO FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Lukáš Modrić in the 74th minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lukáš Modrić, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wágner Alves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 93rd minute Lukáš Modrić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
