The supporters of Bolivia booed when DIEGO ARMANDO MARADONA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enrique Mitxaut didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfredo Ferrant scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emilio Bikendi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 21st minute, Ismael Tejedor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfonso de la Cruz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emilio Bikendi having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 27th minute by Urbano Kusko got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 29 minutes into the game, Julio Chicote was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bolivia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave DIEGO ARMANDO MARADONA the free kick. In the 31st match minute, DIEGO ARMANDO MARADONA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conrado Delfino to maneuver through the defense. In the 34th minute, Mano Dios made a precise shot to the right of Camilo Freixa. Bolivia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Emilio Bikendi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfonso de la Cruz in the 47th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mano Dios to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Bolivia's Mario Fernandino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emilio Bikendi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Ismael Tejedor made in the 58th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by DIEGO ARMANDO MARADONA's Americo Boniel. A collision led to Bolivia getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Ismael Tejedor hit a great ball. In the 61st match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benito Madrid to maneuver through the defense. After 65 played minutes Bolivia got a freekick which was hit by Ismael Tejedor. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eduardo Fontirroig got free with Emilio Bikendi in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 71st minute, Isidoro Mino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Camilo Freixa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. After a rather tough play, DIEGO ARMANDO MARADONA's Americo Boniel got a free kick in the 74th minute. If Alfredo Ferrant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 86 played minutes Bolivia got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Ferrant. Emilio Bikendi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Fontirroig, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After 92 played minutes DIEGO ARMANDO MARADONA got a freekick which was hit by Isidoro Mino.
