The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Joxa mé trasan's Arman von Liechtenstein got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Edward Engström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edward Engström saved Joxa mé trasan from getting behind. Edward Engström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 28th minute of the match. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Joxa mé trasan's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A collision led to Joxa mé trasan getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Arvin Gerdberg hit a great ball. After 32 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Edward Engström came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gabriel Lange got free with Julio Vera in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 57thth minute of the game Laureano Beliran who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 58 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Arne Bronco came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. In the 63rd minute Laureano Beliran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, Joxa mé trasan's goalkeeper Edward Engström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Edward Engström firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 75 minutes, Laureano Beliran made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Joxa mé trasan booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arman von Liechtenstein sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Arman von Liechtenstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Joxa mé trasan had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
