Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 13th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nedum Odunaro. FC GreenWhiteGreen's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nedum Odunaro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 22nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nedum Odunaro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC GreenWhiteGreen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eriberto de Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nedum Odunaro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st match minute, FC GreenWhiteGreen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osa Adenuga to maneuver through the defense. Antonio Arias's late challenge caught a FC GreenWhiteGreen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antonio Arias helped the player get up and apologised. Eriberto de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Osa Adenuga managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC GreenWhiteGreen's supporters rose to their feet, but Osa Adenuga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 48th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1.

Nwokeocha Limu helped the player get up and apologised. If Osa Adenuga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 90 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nedum Odunaro. Cristian Sancho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eriberto de Castro in the 94th minute of the match. In the 98thth minute of the game Ishaku Obodoechi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nedum Odunaro having to interfere.
