The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Orlando Casaus. With a little luck, Chile's Thiago Pliego got control of the ball when Ladislao Bertran tried to sneak it across the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bartolo Nuno to strike the kick off in the second half. Chile's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mariano Lacasa in the 60th minute. Guillermo Fontirroig was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. After a rather tough play, Boca Juniors's Epifanio Medardo got a free kick in the 68th minute. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Primitivo Fernanco having to make a save. The supporters of Chile booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ladislao Bertran didn't get a good kick on the ball. Primitivo Fernanco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 75th minute. Mariano Lacasa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 80th minute Ladislao Bertran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Boca Juniors were awarded a corner in the 82th minute after Chile's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Orlando Lluques took the corner. Adolfo Cresenciano was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Primitivo Fernanco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 85th minute of the match. Primitivo Fernanco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Orlando Casaus in the 89th minute. In the 91st minute, Mariano Lacasa made a precise shot to the right of Primitivo Fernanco. Boca Juniors's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1. 96 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Maximo Bordat came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 98th minute Boca Juniors were awarded a corner. Orlando Lluques went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Pepito Santalla got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Thiago Pliego quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. For all the effort they put into the match, the Chile players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Boca Juniors.
