The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But to his dismay, Hector Covarrubias quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 38th match minute, Faraday FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Sanson to maneuver through the defense. In the 39th minute of the match Jaime Pardo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ildefonso Ikatz skillfully saved the ball. The audience was convinced that Hernan Mendez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacobo Nores was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hernan Mendez in the 52nd minute of play. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernan Mendez in the 54th minute of play. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Pardo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ceferino Formerio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
