Wara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cheb El-Hadi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leonardo Leoz made in the 82nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Wara's Jēkabs Pirtslāva. Wara's Larkins Potter got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 89 minutes into the match, Wara's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Elias Urdaspal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean-Baptiste Boulebda in the 90th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 94 played minutes Wara got a freekick which was hit by Faouzi Louahla. Wara succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Mexico had controlled the match.
